If you think it takes guts to fight... think of what it takes to actually solve a problem.
Be gutsy. Learn to mediate.
Mediation creates collaboration out of the urge for "clobberation." This workshop is facilitated by Duke Fisher, renowned New York State Certified Trainer of Mediation who has been exploring the cutting edge of conflict management and mediation since 1988.
- Learn how to turn conflict into opportunity.
- Learn the process and techniques that have proven to find solutions to "hopeless" conflicts.
- Learn to facilitate fearlessly, to face the real issues and to offer an opportunity for real solutions.
- Learn to customize the process of mediation to be effective with different communities and cultures.
Mediation training will focus on:
- Acquiring the techniques and skills necessary to manage conflict in collaborative and productive ways when tempers are flying.
- Learn how to use the energy of strong language, the urge for violence and other ‘destructive’ behaviors to move people towards a common solution they create and both can live with.
- Learn to hear requests and underlying interests in demands and threats.
Duke Fisher also organizes groups of individuals wishing to be trained to assist others in working through conflict productively. Trainings are confirmed to happen after eight students have formally registered. Discounts are offered to the first eight students.
